The origins of CLOSE Group go back to 1932, the year in which Victor CLOSE established himself at AYWAILLE in Belgium as a central heating plumber. This was the epoch of coal-fired central heating.

As the successor to his father José CLOSE knew how to grasp the opportunities, which technological developments had made possible during the nineteen-sixties, namely, fuel oil-fired central heating and forced air-actuated central heating. Thanks to this new momentum the company grew. José CLOSE also had an intuition about the importance of solar heating and in 1982 had built what today still remains the largest Belgian solar/ energy heating installation.

The next generation, Gérard, Pierre and Michel CLOSE, joined the company during the era of controls, air-conditioning, cold ceilings and by increasing (between 1996 and 2007) turnover tenfold and personnel fivefold, imparted an international image to the company.
